Pasta in the daily diet of athletes and physically active people

The basis of a correct diet for athletes and physically active people should be formed with products rich in carbohydrates, including all types of pasta. With complex carbohydrates, which are the basic ingredient of pasta, muscles and brain can function properly and with maximum power. Starch, found in pasta, effectively enhances the synthesis of glycogen - a substance stored in the muscles and liver and used as the first instance when exercising or in hunger. It is a concentrated source of energy, called every athlete’s fuel. During intense exercise, glycogen reserves decrease and after a long effort they can even be exhausted. This is manifested by lack of energy, hence the daily diet of athletes and physically active people must include carbohydrates in an amount sufficient to cover the needs of their training program and to ensure optimum recovery of muscle glycogen reserves between sport sessions.
